Su uso principales para expresar obligación
- Jeremy must be home by nine o’clock.
- Amy, you must not bully your sister.
- Please, you mustn’t tell my dad about this secret.
- You must not make false claims.
Se usa para deducir o expresarse en lo que creemos tiene certeza
- My workmate arrived late this morning. The boss must have been irritated.
- Our country, Finland, gets far too cold in winter. It must be hard during January.
- Our department has increased its productivity by 50%, therefore, it must be going well.
- You must be lying, am I right?
- He couldn’t have got here so fast, he must have been speeding.
Se utiliza para dar consejos, hacer sugerencias o recomendaciones
- Listen, you must talk to your friend, he’s upset.
- You must see outside the box.
- We must pay attention.
- If you guys want to get the position, you must work harder.
- You must come to my gym, it’s the best.
Diferencia entre ‘must’ y ‘have to’
- ‘Must’ puede ser sustituido por ‘have to’ con muy poca diferencia en su significado. ‘Have to’ es solo un poco más formal que ‘must’.
