¿Cuáles son los adverbios relativos? Son: when, where y why. Se usan los adverbios relativos como conectores para unir cláusulas/oraciones. Cada adverbio relativo tiene su propio propósito o finalidad, y se usan para describir un nombre/sustantivo en la oración.

Utilizamos el adverbio relativo ‘when’ como referencia de tiempo

  • Back in the 1980s when we used to go to rock concerts.
  • I think it was when I was about eight years old.
  • Going to the beach when we were younger was fun.
  • Let’s see if we can find out when they left.

Utilizamos el adverbio relativo ‘where’ como referencia de lugar

  • I had no idea where the metro stop was.
  • The trees were where we met last time.
  • Steven discovered where he had left his watch.
  • This is the building where I worked during my childhood.

Utilizamos el adverbio relativo ‘why’ como adverbio de razón 

  • Juan has no idea why he had no energy to play Football.
  • This is the reason why we’re always late.
  • Their frequent misbehaviour was why they weren’t allowed to go to the party.
  • I have no idea why he decided to do that.
